welcome - a message from dan
Welcome
Sincerely, I want to welcome you. Not only to this site, but to what may be your first step on the path of yoga. Like many things in life, the most courageous step is often the first. Change can often be uncomfortable, but is often exciting too!I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Dan Alder. I have recently undertaken the most humbling task of carrying on my teachers’ yoga studio. It is serendipitous, to say the least, how I ended up here.
It is my hope to share my practice of yoga with you. My practice of yoga has come along way since my beginnings. As like any activity, with practice comes refinement. Practicing yoga for the physical benefits is just the tip of the iceberg of what yoga offers.
A letter from Kate Pell. If it's been a while since you've been to The Yoga Den you may not yet know that Kate has moved on. You can read her letter here and check out her Yoga Teacher Training course at www.yogapresence.com.au
Kate will stop back into the studio from time to time for a work shop or perhaps to relieve Dan while he has a holiday - there will always be ample notice of when these times may come.
So what kind of yoga do I teach?
I’ve been fortunate enough to have teachers so advanced in their own practice enabling them to teach from their own experience and wisdom. They are truly their own teachers. My teachers have empowered me with the necessary tools to discover a wonderfully meaningful yoga practice. It has become my view that yoga restores, no matter how powerful or gentle a practice may be. I have learned that there is no right or wrong but there is safe and unsafe, wholesome and unwholesome. I teach in the same tradition as those that have taught me; challenging in every way with love, understanding and compassion.
It is my hope to eventually guide you to listen, trust and know yourself well enough to develop a practice of your own... After all, it is really you who is the teacher – part of my job is getting you to realise that.
In short, I teach my yoga. My practice has been heavily influenced by my teachers. Kate Pell & Zara Matthews, Andrew Davies, Michel Filinis, and Samantha Thompson.
It is a goal of mine to help you see what I see…that you are enough, that you are perfect, just as you are.
Please come along when you are ready.
Namaste.
Dan
